Focus on Leases

A lease is a document that deals with the transfer of a property for a specified amount of time. All our leases provide:

  • Names of parties (ideal for tracing your family tree)
  • Description of property
  • Length of the lease
  • Value of transaction
  • Covenants, rights & restrictions over the property

Many of our leases also contain plans of the property and surrounding area, making them extremely useful for house historians.

Most of our leases are originals and contain original signatures and seals. The styles of the leases vary depending on the age and scale of the document, some may be written on old parchment or velum, others may be in booklets. The leases are sometimes handwritten, sometimes typed. It all depends on the age of the document.
